Edward Chau, MD, is a cardiologist specializing in preventive cardiovascular care and comprehensive management of heart disease. His clinical practice focuses on preventative heart disease, including dyslipidemia and hypertension management, as well as chronic coronary artery disease, heart failure, arrhythmia and valvular heart disease.
He has particular expertise in structural echocardiography and collaborates closely with structural interventional cardiologists to guide complex valve procedures. In addition, Dr. Chau is actively involved in the Cardiovascular Disease Fellowship Program at Scripps Clinic as a general cardiology teacher and mentor to fellowship trainees.
Dr. Chau’s philosophy of care centers on patient partnership, compassionate communication and a comprehensive understanding of each patient’s values, lifestyle and goals. During each consultation, he provides patient-friendly, evidence-based education and partners with his patients in making informed decisions about their health.
Drawn to cardiology for its balance of prevention and impactful treatment, Dr. Chau values the opportunity to help patients avoid disease whenever possible — and to meaningfully improve their quality of life when heart conditions arise.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Chau enjoys spending time with his family, playing golf when time allows, staying active outdoors and exploring new local restaurants.
